Slide background

The University of Eastern Piedmont, thanks to its strategic multi-campus structure embracing the cities of Alessandria, Novara and Vercelli in northwest Italy, has long been at the forefront in the promotion of the territory thanks to its young students—its most valuable resource. With the goal of fostering synergy between the University and the surrounding territory, the English Presentation Project was set up in 2012 inside the framework of the English language courses of the Department of Humanities degree program in Modern Foreign Languages, under the direction of Maicol Formentelli, Assistant Professor of English Linguistics, and Sandra Della Chiara, English instructor. The main objective of the project is to establish a direct link between groups of students majoring in English and local institutions and companies, with the objective of promoting the territory of Eastern Piedmont, embracing everything from its thriving businesses to its natural, cultural and artistic beauties.
This relationship of mutual exchange between the University and the territory constitutes an important educational experience for students, who have a chance to interact directly with small- and medium-sized companies in various production sectors, developing social and communication skills as well as planning and teamwork abilities, in addition to laying the foundations for future employment opportunities. At the same time, students make the most of their competence in business English and English for the humanities by entering into the ins and outs of real intercultural communication and gaining firsthand experience in the use of advanced technologies for the promotion of products in the international lingua franca of English, while contributing to the effort to support the internationalization of the territory and companies of eastern Piedmont on the global market.
Since its inauguration in 2012, the English Presentation Project has been made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Chambers of Commerce of Biella and Vercelli, and, more recently, also in conjunction with Federmanager Vercelli. Over the years, moreover, numerous other institutions and companies have contributed to the project in various ways. These include: Unione Industriale Biellese, Unione Industriale del Vercellese e della Valsesia, Botalla Formaggi srl (Biella), Castello di Montecavallo (Vigliano Biellese), Cave di Moleto (Ottiglio), Filati Di.Vè. (Cerrione), Lanificio Cerruti (Biella), Pella Sportswear srl (Valdengo), Valvomec srl (Varallo), the university spin-off company Noise+ (Novara), l’Ente Nazionale Risi, la Fondazione Museo del Tesoro del Duomo e Archivio Capitolare (Vercelli), la Fondazione Museo Francesco Borgogna (Vercelli), il Museo Leone (Vercelli).
